The East Legon Football Academy (ELFA)
would realise one objective of “widening players’ footballing intellect to
international standards” by participating in the Dana Cup tournament in Denmark in July.
ELFA boss, Winston Yeboah Danso, said the trip to Hjorring,
northern Denmark, for the 10-day soccer event, is “one giant, baby step” to
helping some youngsters meet their dreams of becoming professional players.
“We are so, so excited this trip
will happen…that it will also give international exposure in different ways to
our players.”
ELFA, founded by Danso in 2019, runs an after-school programme for young boys and girls between ages five and 16. Its regular and advanced training sessions are designed to dig up latent talents and polish them into ‘rare gems’.
Danso says ELFA’s coaching staff, led by Robert Mackenzie, have managed to use basic facilities at the Adjiringanor pitch, in East Legon, to nurture the almost 100 players in its stable.
Despite promoting football within the Adjiringanor
community, ELFA also uses
non-football events to broaden the horizons of its players.
Danso says the most recent was a recreational trip to Aburi, eastern Ghana, on March 6, to mark the country’s independence.
The kids had various
activities in Aburi to build their social skills
